Overview of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL): Strada Collaborative, Inc. d/b/a CAEL (referred to in the document as “CAEL”), is a national, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to partnering with educators, employers, and workforce and economic developers to reimagine and create lifelong pathways that integrate learning and work for adults. CAEL helps organizations succeed by providing expertise, resources, and solutions that effectively support adult learners as they navigate on-and-off ramps between education and employment. We partner with entities across the adult learner ecosystem to help create actionable career pathways along the journey of lifelong learning and meaningful work.

Overview of Position: The Member Engagement Manager is primarily focused on member recruitment support, member benefits implementation, online platform content, and Government and other grant support. This position will play a key role in collaborating on the development of member outreach campaigns focusing on workforce development organizations, workforce economic development organizations, employers, and organizations and individuals focused on adult learners and linking learning and work.
Additionally, this position will develop action plans with the Vice President of Member Engagement aligned to CAEL’s strategic goals for membership growth.
The Member Engagement Manager will help establish and implement new and enhanced member benefits that support expanding our member base and enhancing member relations while supporting an increase in CAEL’s membership value and engagement metrics. This position will assist in creating and updating membership materials geared towards workforce organizations and employers; including letters, copy for upcoming events, welcome orientation information, case studies, web copy, online platform copy, surveys, and other related marketing materials.
The Member Engagement Manager will focus on providing excellent member service, including but not limited to nurturing ongoing relationships with organizations and professionals to ensure new memberships and solid member retention. This position requires exemplary written and verbal communication skills, comfort with communicating with potential members, responding promptly to inquiries from prospective members, following up on lapsed memberships, and speaking publicly when needed.
Other duties include observing and analyzing member trends and feedback and supporting other Engagement Team projects, events, and programs, including grant project work. This includes: supporting the creation and implementation of professional development offerings to support an expanded member stakeholder(s); supporting the annual conference and other events; and conducting new member orientations and involvement both in-person and virtually. Due to the dynamic nature of CAEL, and a growing membership, success will be driven by a natural multi-tasker who also has excellent interpersonal skills and a strong desire to help achieve the financial goals of the organization.
Essential Job Functions
- Drive and implement activities to bring on new member stakeholder growth to include workforce development organizations, workforce economic development organizations, employers, organizations, grant partners, and individuals focused on adult learners and linking learning and work.
- Support a variety of administrative, logistical, and grant tasks that support the required grant program outcomes.
- Support membership recruitment strategies to grow the number of members.
- Support an effective execution of membership renewal and retention strategies and successfully meet and/or exceed retention goals set to grow CAEL’s membership.
- Actively participate in creating and implementing new and enhanced “members only” services, benefits and opportunities geared towards workforce organizations and employers.
- Actively increase the visibility of CAEL’s expanded member stakeholders by working closely with marketing to develop and execute effective marketing strategies, create and promote new and enhanced member materials, both digital and non-digital assets.
- Help develop and support a member welcome and onboarding program, specially designed for new member stakeholders and grant partners.
- Learn from new member stakeholders, i.e. surveys, member metrics, and member committees to support improving a member-focused value proposition.
- Work with the membership and marketing team to use metrics to develop continuous improvement strategies and set ongoing priorities to ensure goals are met.
- Support the creation of member professional development courses, workshops and offerings that directly support workforce organizations and employers.
- Help manage the CAEL membership online community platform to support recruitment and retention of new member stakeholders, including building member advocates for the online community platform.
- Work directly with the Engagement team to support member portal website content updates that support new member stakeholders.
- Assist the Director, VP and SVP, Engagement as necessary in planning and executing membership strategies.
- Leverage data, analysis and surveys to inform membership and grant strategy development.
- Effectively collaborate within and across departments to impact membership value and achieve individual, departmental and organizational metrics goals.
- Respond to members, potential members, grant partners, CAEL team and public inquiries in a timely manner using good judgment.
- Provide administrative support with membership-related processes, including coordinate and assist in all meeting planning, setting meetings, taking notes and supporting follow-up.
- Add and maintain membership data in Salesforce as needed.
- Back-up support for managing CAEL’s member database, CAEL’s Learning Management System, CAEL’s Online Community Platform, CAEL’s CRM Platform, and other Membership/Association Management Systems.
- Perform additional duties, tasks, and assignments as required.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience with non-profit and/or workforce organizations and/or employers. Work experience in higher education a plus.
- Proven work experience with members, communities and/or coalitions.
- Experience in a professional association or membership organization is a plus.
- Experience working on federal grants a plus.
- Previous experience in recruitment initiatives is a plus.

- Project management, including planning, scheduling and coordinating.
- Working with various individuals at all levels, including staff, members, professionals, employers, etc.
- Leveraging technology tools like G Suite, Zoom, database management tools, membership platform modules and tools, and working with a CRM system.
- Enjoys going out of your way to help people and always keeping members in mind.
- Collaborating with the team– we help each other out and make the organization work through collaboration.
$55,000 - $65,000 a year
Travel Requirements: This position will require the incumbent to travel between five to fifteen percent (5-15%) of the time for business meetings with some overnight travel required. The amount of travel and expectations for the same are subject to change based on business needs and demands.
Typical Physical & Mental Demands: Requires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping and stretching; eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Also requires moderate to intense concentration due to complexity and/or need to meet deadlines, and flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment.
